Dockie Earnest, 75, of Brinson, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at his residence.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Calvary Assembly of God Church with Rev. Tony Kent and Rev. James Scarborough officiating.  Interment was at Calvary Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Danny Earnest, DeWayne Earnest, Larry Earnest, Jimmy Miller, Perry Miller, Jay King, and Joe Earnest serving as active pallbearers.

Mr. Earnest was born April 21, 1939 in Donalsonville, Ga., the son of John Bowen Earnest and Inez Merkison Earnest.  He was a sales clerk with Bainbridge Hardware for over 25 years. Dockie was a faithful member of Calvary Assembly of God, where he served as a Deacon, on the cemetery committee, and as a Royal Ranger Leader.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elsie Cleghorn Earnest of Brinson; his children, Gail Sharber and her husband, Eddie, of Bainbridge, and Joey Earnest and his wife, Kim, of Donalsonville; his siblings, Lawrence Earnest and his wife, Sandra, of Fayetteville, Ga., Allean Alday of Bainbridge, and Jeanette Miller of Donalsonville; his grandchildren, James (Jes) Sharber, III of Bainbridge, Tabitha Sharber Brock and her husband, Blake, of Bainbridge, and Jy Sharber Rogerson and her husband, Stephen, of Bainbridge; and his great-grandchildren, Emily Brock and Joe Rogerson.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Earnest, Henry Earnest, and Rev. T. C. “Curtis” Earnest.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
