Mattie Lee Allen Baxter

Lee was born in Climax, Ga. on October 23, 1926 and passed away on November 2, 2014 in Richardson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Delbert Terry Baxter; her parents, Jesse Leon Allen and Susie Dollar Allen and her brother, Robert Montgomery Allen. She is survived by her sister, Frances Allen Lee of Bainbridge; her sister-in-law, Clara Allen of Tampa, Florida and by her three children: Viva Suzanne Baxter Wilson (Culver Wilson), Terry Allen Baxter (Barry Hensley), and Bruce Raymond Baxter (Elizabeth Baxter). She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Kimberly Wilson Krebs (Keith), Angela Wilson Davidson, Rachel Wilson Whitenton (Michael), Kathleen Baxter, and Bruce R. Baxter, Jr. (Ryan).  Great-grandchildren are Natalie, Harton, Landon and Lacy Krebs; Chase and Ava Davidson; and Corey Baxter; and by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lee graduated from Climax High School and moved to Washington, D.C. where she met the love of her life, Del, during World War II. He was a young officer in the Navy and she was an administrative secretary working in the Pentagon.  They married in his hometown of Chicago in 1947 and subsequently moved to Texas, where they began their lifelong careers working for the Federal Government. She was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother who loved her family. She will be missed by all.
