The City of Bainbridge has named Julie Harris as the new Community Affairs Director for the City.

She will be filling the role former city worker Adrienne Harrison had.

“I have been involved with so many aspects of the city as a volunteer and am thrilled that I now have the opportunity to devote myself full-time to the place I live, work, and play”, Harris said.

Harris is well known in the community having worked at Bainbridge Pharmacy and Grace Christian Academy prior to assuming her new role. Harris worked at Grace Christian Academy for ten years teaching school and coaching Cross Country and Soccer.  Harris remains an avid runner.

“This is truly a dream job for me,” Harris said.  “I’m passionate about the city in which I have called home for 25 years.  I am jumping in with both feet during this busy time of year, and the people I am working with have been incredibly supportive.”

Harris has been involved with the city in many capacities over the years, assisting with the establishment of Bainbridge as a Georgia Main Street City and serving on the inaugural Main Street Board of Directors.  She also was a member of the City Hall Renovation Committee and has served as the Chairman of the Historic Preservation Commission since 2006.  She is married to Lee Harris, Assistant Administrator of Memorial Hospital and Manor, and has three sons, Kyle, a Junior at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, Chase, a senior at Bainbridge High School, and Caleb, an eighth grader at Bainbridge Middle School.

“We are extremely pleased to have Julie join our team in this very important capacity,” City Manager Chris Hobby said.
