Cross-country celebrates strong season at banquet

The Bainbridge High School and Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country teams were honored for their outstanding achievements Tuesday night at the First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.

The most outstanding runner awards for coach Yvette Greene’s Bainbridge High School varsity Bearcats and Lady Cats went to Brenden Greene and Uriyah Davis. The most outstanding runner awards for coach Greta Conner’s Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats and Lady Cats went to Caleb Harris and Sandy Baker.

Coach Conner’s Bainbridge Middle School Lady Cats were honored for being Southwest Georgia Region champions.

Varsity Bearcats and Lady Cats rookie of the year award winners were Nour Hasona and Aida Diaz and middle school Bearcats and Lady Cats rookie of the year awarded winners were Piper Harrell and Gage Kempton.

June Faircloth presented the Dylan Faircloth Memorial Award named in honor and memory of her late son, a former Bearcats cross-country runner who lost his life in a vehicle accident, to Taylor Colon. The award goes each year to a cross-country runner who exemplifies the same high character, competitiveness and academic excellence demonstrated by her son.

Most improved Bearcat and lady Cat varsity runners were Edward Moorhead and Randi Harrison. Most improved Bearcat and Lady Cat middle school runners were Aaron Houston and TerriQuon Ray.

Varsity coach’s awards for outstanding work ethic and dedication went to Bearcat Bennett Enfinger and Lady Cat Madison Wiggins, who were second place runners on their teams. Bearcat Kodi Hanson and lady Cat Jordan Davis, the second place runners on their teams, received middle school coach’s awards.

Bearcats varsity captains Jordan Graham and Brad Cox were each awarded a pin for their letterman jackets.

Earning scholar athlete awards for having a 90 or better grade point average and an ACT score of 21 or better or an SAT score of 1000 or better were Erin Caplan, Taylor Colon, Eric Conner, Jordan Graham, Chase Harris, Nour Hasona, Zachary Toole, Ralyn Willis and Perry Waddell.
