BMS eighth grade Bearcats even record to 1-1 after home win

Coach Heith  Maxwell’s Bainbridge Middle School eighth grade Bearcats basketball team evened their season record at 1-1 Thursday when they defeated Cairo’s Washington Middle School eighth grade Tigers 47-40 at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.

They opened their season Monday with a 50-27  home  loss to the Pelham Middle School eighth grade Hornets.

Leading the way for the Bearcats Monday  against Pelham were Jailyn Thomas with nine points. Tony Worlds put in eight and Kaylin Hill contributed six. Rounding out the Bearcats scoring column were Zavion Worlds,and Devion West  with two apiece.

The Bearcats had a balanced scoring attack in their Thursday win over Washington. Thomas led the way with nine points and Tony Worlds put in eight. Rounding out the Bearcats scoring chart Thursday were Hill with six, and Zavion Worlds and Devion West with two apiece.

Coach Maxwell said his team showed  a  lot of improvement in their  Thursday win over  Washington.

“We cut down on our turnovers and played much better defense,\ Thursday,” he said. Monday against Pelham we got some good looks at the basket but our shots were just not droping.”

The Bearcats will return to action Tuesday when they take on the Thomas County Central Middle School eighth grade Yellow Jackets on the road.

“We will go back to work  and  get ready for Thomas County Central” coach Maxwell said. “I am pleased with the improvement we showed from our first game to our second game.”
