Bainbridge cross-country team ready to get season underway at Pelham meet

Coach Yvette Greene’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country teams open their season Saturday when they travel to Pelham to compete against the Pelham High School Hornets and Lady Hornets.

Leading the way for the Bearcats are juniors Chase Harris, Perry Waddell, Branden Greene, Bennett Enfinger and Grayson Grayham. Sophomore Wright Cook and junior Brad Cox will be competing for the Bearcats as well. Jemia Powell leads the Lady Cats.

“We are ready to get the season started,” Greene said Friday. “We have had good practices and all of our young men and young lady runners are anxious to compete.”

“We will take next weekend off for the Labor Day holiday and return to competition Saturday, Sept. 6, when we travel to Tallahassee to run in the Lincoln High School Cougars and Lady Cougars Cross Country Challenge.”

Green said Saturday, Sept. 13, the team will compete against the Lee County High School Trojans and Lady Trojans in Leesburg.

Bainbridge will then host the Bearcats and Lady Cats Invitational Meet Saturday, Sept. 20, before concluding their September schedule at the Quail Trail 5K in Thomasville Saturday, Sept. 27.
