Services for John Reid Ellis, 72, Ochlocknee are at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church. The Rev. Gene Brock and the Rev. Johnny Cooper will officiate and interment will be in Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Colby Smith, David Ellis, Greg Ponder, Tommy Ellis, Mark Criqui and Lyndon Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Gerard Turner, Carrol Collins, Herman Griffin, Donnie Baggett, Chuck Cooper, Lynwood Smith and Ed Baggett.

Mr. Ellis died Wednesday, July 23, at Archbold Medical Center. Born March 31, 1942 in Thomas County, Ga., he was a son of the late Thomas Britt Ellis Sr. and Ollie Mae Rehberg Ellis. On May 28, 1982, in Thomasville, he married Jackie W. Ellis. He was a member of American Legion Post 265, served in the United States Army from 1962-63 and a member of Little Ochlocknee Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jackie W. Ellis of Ochlocknee; son, John Reid Ellis  Jr. of Cullman, Ala.; daughters, Jennifer Robyn Forbes (William) of McMinnville, Tenn., Ashton Rae Ellis (Fiance` Colby Smith) of Ochlocknee; sister, Sherrill Ellis Humber (Brady) of Buena Vista; brothers, Donnie Russell Ellis (Opal) of Ochlocknee, David Littleton Ellis (Gladys) of Bainbridge, Thomas Britt Ellis Jr. (Betty) of Ochlocknee; grandchildren, Kora Mae-Lyndal Forbes, Kason Britten Ellis, John Reid Ellis III, Ethan Ellis; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Elizabeth Baggett.
