Local gymnasts making waves

The Bainbridge Gymnast-A-Cats have already competed in 10 meets this year and won top honors in each.
The team is made up of 10 different levels with girls ranging from five to 18-years-old. The team will be competing this weekend in the Courtney Kupets Pink Invitational in Savannah. They started their team events in August with the Level 1 through Level 5 gymnasts competing in compulsory competition meets.
They had the compulsory state meet in December and that is where Avrie Barbree won her first state championship in Level 2. She was outstanding and she also won state championships on the vault, the bars and the balance beam.
The team will be competing in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) state championships in March, April and May in optional competition divisions. The Level 1 team members are Bansi Patel, Grace Cleveland and Abigail Holley and the Level 2 pre-beginner team members are Lauren Godwin, Anna Kate Houston, Emma Foster, Makaylie Middleton, Mary Glenn Warr, Avrie Barbree, Abigail Anderson, Maloree Inlow and Bailey Nunnery.
The Level 3 prep one team members are Mel Bodrey, Caitlin Shepard, Marbella Rich, Lainey McRae and Emily Grace Tuten, The Level 4 prep two team members are Kennedy Jester and Carmen Jeter. Emily Grace Tuten also competed in Level 4.
The Level 6 through Level 9 gymnasts compete throughout the year. Level 6 team members are Emily Chambers, Gabby Hardee and Josie Deal. Level 7 team members are McKenzie Findley and McKindley Calhoun. Emily Perkins is a Level 9 gymnast.
