The Bainbridge High School Bearcats boys and girls swim teams defeated Albany’s Westover High School Patriots boys and girls teams in their season opening meet at Albany State University.
They brought home 14 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and nine bronze medals. The boys won 74-60 and the girls, who were led by Tara Stevens who qualified for state in the 200-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley, won 102-53.
The boy’s 200-meter medley relay and girls and boys 200-meter medley relay and 400-meter freestyle relay all captured first places.
Boy’s 200-meter medley relay team members were Nour Hasona, Carson Harrell, Eric Conner and Logan Morehead.
Girl’s 200-meter medley relay team members were Kay Bush, Lynsey Waddell, Tara Stevens and Taylor Bush.
Girl’s 400-meter freestyle relay team members were Jay Bush, Taylor Bush, Jordan Graham and Tara Stevens.
Wednesday, both teams will swim in the Region 1-AAAAA region meet.
The Georgia High School Administration Swimming and Diving State Championship will be held at the Georgia Tech campus Feb. 6-8. Tickets will be $12 per person.
