SGA traveled on the road Friday to play Valwood, the defending state champions, losing 40-7.
Valwood came into the contest undefeated in region play and on the season.  SGA came into the game with a record of 6-4 on the season.
Key injuries have played a toll on the Warriors the last few games.  SGA has lost starting middle linebacker Garrett Vann for the year as well as starting outside linebacker and running back Stephen Jackson Friday night.  Several other warriors played banged up Friday night due to a very tough schedule.
The warriors started off well in the very wet conditions, moving the ball and putting together a 7-play drive, but were forced to punt on fourth down.
The Valiants scored on their first drive on an 80-yard touchdown run to go ahead 7-0 in the first quarter.
Valwood led SGA at the half 24-0. SGA came out strong in the second half with the defense forcing Valwood to punt on their first possession. SGA then put together a 10-play drive and scored on a 32-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Quinn LaGuardia to wide receiver Teel Massey. Austin Cowart converted the extra point to make the score 24-7.
The Warriors put together a number of solid drives through the rest of the half, making the final score 40-7.
LaGuardia punted well on the night with five punts for an average of 47 yards.
The Warriors will begin the first round of the playoffs Friday night at Flint River Academy.
