8th grade Bearcats win big

The Bainbridge Middle School 8th grade football team traveled to Thomas County Central last Thursday and defeated the Yellow Jackets 30-0 to start the team off with a record of 1-0.

Running back Dameon Pierce scored three of the Bearcat’s touchdowns. Markel Broadnax joined in on the scoring action with a touchdown as well. Tre Story, Broadnax, and quarterback Caleb Boutwell all scored on 2-point conversions. The offensive line is showing improvement and center Griffin Long and tackle Iran Brown played well.

The defense for the Bearcats was dominant. They were led by defensive tackle Will Kelly and defensive end Devin Morris. Corner back Zion McGee had a big interception late in the second quarter as well.

Coach Heith Maxwell stated that he was pleased that the offense avoided turnovers, and that the defense was solid and tackled well.

The 8th Bearcats travel to Brooks County next Thursday to take on the Trojans.
