She attended Franklin Baptist Church and graduated from Faceville School before attending Georgia Southwestern College. Sue met her future husband, John P. Harrell of Donalsonville, at a boarding house in Climax, and went on to earn her teaching degree from the University of Georgia. After Sue and John were married April 3, 1950, in Edison, Ga., John shipped off to Korea. Sue eventually joined John in Japan for an extended “honeymoon”.

After returning to the states, Sue became a homemaker and the family settled in Atlanta, where John was a pilot for Eastern Airlines. In 1973, Sue and John moved to Lake Lanier and enjoyed hosting family and friends at the lake for many years.

Sue always had her camera handy and loved to record family events and anything else that could be photographed and put in an album! She had a deep unconditional love for her family. She believed in people and excelled at encouragement and always looked for the best in people.

Sue’s greatest joy was found in giving to those she loved. Her gifts always had special meaning, and her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family will always cherish her memory.
