We’re proud to be ‘land of the free’

Tomorrow, we will once again celebrate our freedoms and our patriotism as we celebrate Independence Day.

Fireworks, picnics and family are all certainly an important part of this annual celebration, but we must be sure to never lose sight of the reason we are able to enjoy this holiday. Men and women of all races, creeds and ages have given their lives in sacrifice, defending our freedoms both at home and abroad.

America isn’t perfect, and we realize that. As humans, we all make mistakes, and our nation as a whole has not always lived up to its high ideals. However, the “idea” of America is still something that is inherently good, and something that we should continue to be proud of. This country is still based on the idea that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Keep these ideals in mind as you enjoy the festivities, and have a happy Fourth of July.
