Ms. Rebecca Dawn Nix passed away early Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Memorial Hospital and Manor, Bainbridge, following a short illness. The family will receive friends Monday, July 1, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Long officiating. Interment will follow at Eldorendo Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jason Tabb, Rusty Tabb, Jacob Poe, Robbie Phillips, Greg Phillips, and James Bennett. Honorary Pallbearers include the Memorial Hospital Patients Access Department .

Rebecca Dawn Nix was born Feb. 12, 1962 in Avon Park, Decatur, Ga. to Malvin P. Nix and Katie Phillips Nix Dasher. She lived most of her life in Bainbridge, but moved to Pinellas, Fla. for a short time, where she enjoyed working with the Humane Society. When she moved back to Bainbridge, she worked for Memorial Hospital and Manor in the Registration Office. She enjoyed the outdoors, plants and animals. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with the children of her family and friends. She was also very fond of animals and has two lifelong pets, Little Bit and Chewie.

She was preceded in death by her father, Malvin P. Nix, and nephew, Erik Colwell.

Survivors include her mother, Katie Dasher and Jack of Bainbridge; sisters, Kathy Colwell and Glenn of Miller County, Ga., Sandra Ecklund of Bainbridge, Brenda Nix of Bainbridge; nephews, Jason Tabb, Rusty Tabb, and Jacob Poe; nieces, Christina Kelley, Stephanie Jones, Heather Colwell, Alicia Poe; 14 great-nieces and nephews, Logan, Krislyn, Aiden, Luanna, Hunter, Baylee, Konnor, Corbin, Cassie, Kaden, Carson, Kenslee, Summer, and Hayley.
