Private funeral services for Donald L. Waldrop Sr., 83, of Whigham, Ga., were held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, in Cairo, Ga. The Rev. Robert Crapps officiated. Interment was held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, Ga. Mr. Waldrop passed away at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home in Pelham, Ga., on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

Mr. Waldrop was born on Aug. 18, 1928, in Whigham, to Cleon O. Waldrop Sr. and Martha Ann Tippett Waldrop. He was a retired U.S. Army serviceman with 23 years of service. He served in occupied Germany after World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a 50-year member of the Whigham Masonic Lodge #356, and a member of the American Legion #122. He was of the Methodist faith. Donald loved to work in his yards. He loved his family and grandchildren most of all.

Mr. Waldrop was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Cleon O. Waldrop Jr., Thomas W. Waldrop, Larry Ray Waldrop, Robert Lane Waldrop; his sisters, Mary Dot Edmundson, Frances Malene Waldrop; and a son-in-law, Ray Sartin.

Survivors include his wife, Elinor Willis Waldrop of Whigham; his children, Nancy W. Sartin of Enterprise, Ala., Donnie L. Waldrop (Ruthie) of Cairo, Teresa A. Waldrop of Tallahassee, Fla., Robert Timothy Waldrop of Whigham, Pam Stanford-Kuntz of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Eddie Dixon III (Brandy) of Cairo, Hannah Waldrop of Cairo, Heidi W. Cumbie (Scott Thomas) of Ochlocknee, Ga., Shannon Stokes of Cairo; eight great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Esther Dekle of Pelham; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wanda Boosinger (Jay) of Tallahassee, Joseph Dekle of Cairo, Elizabeth Waldrop of Whigham, Blonnie Waldrop of Whigham, Cardy Edmundson of St. Simons Island, Ga.; and an aunt, Melba Tippett of Bainbridge.

Clark Funeral Home of Cairo was in charge.
