Charlotte Howard of Bainbridge is announcing the engagement of her daughter, Candace Howard, to Jason Read, the son of Mike and Sue Read of Ashtabula, Ohio.

The bride-elect, currently a resident of Manhattan, N.Y., graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2007. Following graduation from Valdosta State University, where she majored in dance, she went on to graduate school at New York University. She is an intern with the New York City Ballet. She is the granddaughter of Tommy and Ethel Howard of Bainbridge.

The groom-to-be is the grandson of Margaret Carr of Ashtabula and of Ken and Ellen Read of Conneaut, Ohio.

Mr. Read graduated from Edgewood High School in Ashtabula in 2004. He received his degree in accounting and business management from Ohio Valley University in Vienna, W. Va. He is the owner of JRead International and a current resident of Parkersburg, W. Va.

The wedding is planned for June 8, 2013, at 5 p.m. at Maclay Gardens, in Tallahassee, Fla. The reception will follow in the Wine Loft.
