BHS girls lose pair of region contests

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats lost two Region 1-AAAAA basketball games Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, they lost 56-19 to the Northside-Columbus High School Lady Patriots at the BHS gym. On Saturday, they lost 55-34 to the Hardaway High School Lady Golden Hawks, in Columbus, Ga.

The Lady Cats entered Tueday’s home region game against the Thomas County Central High School Lady Yellow Jackets with a 7-14 overall record and a 3-6 record in Region 1-
AAAAA.

They will take on the Cairo High School Syrupmaids on Friday, in Cairo, Ga., and host the Seminole County High School Lady Indians on Saturday.

“We continue to hustle and play hard but we are turning the ball over too much,” Bainbridge coach Kelvin Cochran said, following Friday’s game.

Center Patra Parris led the Lady Cats on Friday night with nine points. She was followed by guard Alexis Russ with four and guard Alex Carter, forward Longeisha Emanuel and forward Asia Gordon, all with two.

Northside-Columbus’s Taylor Jakes took game scoring honors with 10 points.

Saturday night, Carter led the Lady Cats, with eight points. Point guard Beonka Madge, who recently returned from a hand injury, added seven, and Parris put in six.

Also scoring Saturday were guard Teena Jeffery with five points, Emanuel with three, Gordon and guard Tameria Levens with two apiece, and guard Alexis Russ with one point.
