“Silver Sneakers” is a fun, energizing program that helps older adults take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity and offering social events. At your Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA, Silver Sneakers members have access to all the YMCA conditioning classes (including the Silver Sneakers Class) and all the YMCA facilities.
At the YMCA, we are fortunate to have Paula Grollman leading our Silver Sneakers program. Paula has a background in physical therapy and is certified to teach pilates, tai chi, posture profile, and yoga, and she is a certified Silver Sneakers instructor. Our Silver Sneakers members gather for the Silver Sneakers Class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. in our aerobics room and the “Golden Power Hour” on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
In addition to all the benefits of Y Membership that Silver Sneakers members enjoy, they also have access to members-only online articles and support. This includes nutrition, fitness and health improvement plans. It also includes health-related articles, healthy recipes, and advice from experts in exercise, losing weight, nutrition and life skills.
The best news about Silver Sneakers membership at the YMCA is that it is covered by many health insurance plans (AARP, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, United Healthcare and many more). If you are eligible for Medicare or are a group retiree, you can call the YMCA at (229) 243-0508 or bring your insurance card to the YMCA front desk and we will help you find out if you qualify. If your insurance policy does not include Silver Sneakers benefits, you can join the YMCA under our special senior adult membership rate to participate.
Call us today and we’ll help you on your way to a healthier life.
