The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats dropped a pair of Region 1-AAAAA basketball games over the weekend.

On Friday, they lost 45-35 to the Lee County High School Lady Trojans in Leesburg, and Saturday they fell 43-19 to the visiting Hardaway High School Lady Golden Lady Golden Hawks.

The Lady Trojans led the Lady Cats just 24-22 after three quarters. Bainbridge bounced back to score six of the next eight points and go up 28-26, on a steal and lay up by Tameria Levens.

The Lady Trojans reclaimed the lead and were on top 36-30 with 3:36 remaining in the game. Bainbridge’s Alex Carter hit a three-pointer with 1:58 remaining to cut the lead to 40-35, but Lee County’s Maggie O’Conner countered with a three-pointer to push the lead out to eight at 43-35, with 1:35 remaining.

In their Saturday home game with the Hardaway Lady Golden Hawks, the Lady Cats were paced by Levens with 12 points, and Patra Parris with eight. Alex Carter put in six points.

Following Saturday night’s game, Bainbridge coach Kelvin Cochran said his team did some good things against Lee County and Hardaway, but were still turning the ball over too much.

“We are getting trapped too much and making too many bad passes,” he said. “We are playing hard. We just need to make better decisions with the basketball.”

The Lady Cats took a 4-10 season record (1-3 in region play) into Tuesday night’s Region 1-AAAAA road game against the Thomas County Central High School Lady Yellow Jackets.

They will host the Harris County High School Lady Tigers in a Region 1-AAAAA game Friday at 6 p.m.
