James E. “Jay” Turknett Jr., 42, of Bainbridge, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Warren Fox officiating, and will conclude at the chapel. Interment will be at Oak Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Ivey Funeral Home.

Jay was born Jan. 1, 1971, in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1989, and of Bainbridge College. Jay was a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a member of West Bainbridge Baptist Church.

Jay was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Wyman; his paternal grandparents, Lester and Bessie Ruth Turknett; and his maternal grandparents, J.C. and Sara Wilson.

Survivors include his mother, Judy W. Zorn and her husband, Mark, of Bainbridge; his father, Jim Turknett and his wife, Susan, of Thomasville, Ga.; his nephew, Brendan Wyman of Alpharetta, Ga.; his brother-in-law, Ken Wyman of Alpharetta; his step-sisters, Michelle Lane and her husband, Billy, of Bainbridge, and Marla Zorn of Perry, Fla.; the Winston Brock family, the Bob Turknett family, the Don Turknett family, and the Will Armintrout family.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
