JV Bearcats finish 2nd at Godby event

The Bainbridge High School junior varsity Bearcats basketball team, coached by Brandon Ingram and Eric Williams, won two of three games last week to finish second in Tallahassee’s Godby High School Holiday Junior Varsity Invitational Tournament.

The Bearcats (5-2) split two games on Saturday, beating Lincoln (Tallahassee, Fla.), 68-47, in the semifinals, and bowing to Godby, 59-42, in the championship game.

Dominic Douglas and Trevon Shaw combined for 25 points to lead the Bearcats over Lincoln in the semifinals. Douglas led the way with 14 and Shaw added 11. Derrick Jones scored nine points.

Rounding out the Bearcats’ scoring column against Lincoln were Michael Davis with eight points, Malik Middleton with six, Galena Belin with five, Tre Dudley, Greg Cooper and Devontae Campbell, with four points each, and Myles Thomas with three.

In the championship game loss to Godby, Douglas led the Bearcats with 14 points and Shaw added 13. They were followed by Cooper with six points, Dudley with five and Middleton, Davis and Jean Jeanty, each with two points.
