Cotele H. Prance, 84, of Brinson, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at her residence.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Morningside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Warren Fox and Rev. Mylan Brookins officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with Phillip Martin, Don Kell, Bill Harrell, Hilton Aultman, Cliff Hutto and Winston Brock serving as active pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund.

Mrs. Prance was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Bainbridge, the daughter of Elijah Washington “Bud” Harrell and Esther Glover Harrell. She was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School and Georgia State College for Women. Mrs. Prance retired after serving 35 years as a teacher and principal at Pine Hill Elementary School, Decatur County School System, and Oaks Academy. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, Alpha Delta Kappa, and the Decatur County Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her daughter, Lenorah Prance Chapman and her husband, Larry, of Colquitt, Ga.; her grandsons, Corey Chapman and his wife, Robin, of Cumming, Ga., and Casey Chapman and his wife, Jamie, of Bainbridge; and her great-grandchildren, Coley Chapman, Kell Chapman, Aubrey Chapman, and Austin Wade. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coley C. Prance; and her siblings.
