Mrs. Dorothy Dukes Cox, age 69, passed away Wednesday, December 05, 2012, at Memorial Manor II in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Cox will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Thompson Freewill Baptist Church in Miller County, Georgia. The Rev. James Scarborough and the Rev. Bobby Whittaker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

Dorothy was born May 11, 1943, in Colquitt, Georgia, to Rufus Butler Chason Dukes and Inez Lovering Dukes. Dorothy was a member of Thompson Freewill Baptist Church. She truly loved her church and was upset when she was unable to attend. Mrs. Cox loved her family. She loved to bake and cook for them. When her beloved husband, Willie Floyd Cox, was still with her she enjoyed going fishing with him.

Dorothy Cox is survived by her children, Gayle Newsome and husband, Mike of Colquitt, Georgia, Lesa Mathis and husband, Kent of Iron City, Georgia, Darrell Cox and wife, Tracy of Bainbridge, and Dennis Cox and wife, Kristy of Whigham, Georgia; grandchildren, Derek Newsome and wife, Brandy, Daniel Newsome, Dana Newsome, Roger West and wife, Erica, William Mathis, Chason Mathis, Reagan Cox, Garrett Cox, Adrian Sadler, Ryan Sadler, and Will Cox; great grandchildren, Hilton Newsome, Andruw West, Madelyn Franklin, and Zoey Mathis; brothers and sister, Wesley Dukes, Sr. of Bainbridge, Frances Dukes Wisham of Tampa, Florida and Rufus Baxley Dukes of Brinson, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Floyd Cox; parents, Rufus and Inez Dukes; and brother, Lonnie Dukes.
