It did not appear that anyone was injured in the fire, although Emergency Medical Service ambulance was at the scene. Volunteer firefighters from multiple stations, as well as Decatur County Fire and Rescue and the Miller County Fire Department all responded to the blaze.

At the peak of the fire at approximately 7 p.m., flames shot 30-40 feet above the home, setting alight several trees. The home’s front porch and part of its roof collapsed at 7:08 p.m., sending firefighters who were spraying water on the home backing up for safety. Firefighters also had to deal with sparking power lines at the rear of the home, which was completely destroyed.

Emergency responders were able to rescue a pony who was behind a fence near the fire.

Approximately seven fire engines were at the scene and firefighters were still battling the blaze as of 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
