Train hit man Friday

An emergency medical helicopter lands Friday afternoon to transport a man who was hit by a train near the Albany Road crossing.|Brennan Leathers

A man was injured after being struck by a train, near the crossing on Albany Road shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday, according to E-911 dispatches.

Bainbridge Public Safety officers and Emergency Medical Service personnel responded. One officer reported the victim was an adult male who had sustained lacerations to his head. After BPS officers cordoned off a landing zone in the parking lot of Stone’s Hardware on Calhoun Street, an emergency medical helicopter landed at approximately 2:15 p.m.

Traffic had to be detoured around the helicopter landing zone for approximately 30 minutes.
