The Lady Crusaders’ Anna Murr, the cousin of the Lady Cougars’ Emilee Murr, led all scorers with 20 points. Emilee Murr led the Lady Cougars with 18 points.

Grace’s Cougars defeated the Byne boys 60-47 in their Friday night opener. They were led by freshman Jack McRae, with 21 points.

Grace Christian School, which Cougars coach Steve Murr formerly coached, downed the Cougars 69-55 in Saturday’s championship game.

Murr said he was pleased with the play of both his teams.

“Our girls team has a lot of potential, even though we lost five of our top six players from last year,” he said. “They were without their senior leader, Jasmin Kelly, who was traveling with her family. She will add what we were missing Saturday.”

“Our boys proved that they will be much harder to defend this season,” Murr said. “They have five players who can consistently hit in double figures.”
