BMS, Grace middle schoolers split

The Bainbridge Middle School seventh-grade Lady Cats and Bearcats and Grace Christian Academy seventh-grade Lady Cougars and Cougars split two season-opening games Tuesday at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.

Coach Emi McCullough’s Lady Cats won the first game 30-9, and coach Dr. Mallory McRae’s Cougars won the second game 24-19.

The Lady Cats were led by Tyra Smart, with nine points. Jasmine Rainey added four points.

The Lady Cats were ahead 6-5 at the end of the first quarter, 13-5 at halftime and 25-7 after three quarters.

In the boys game, Nate Walton led the Cougars with 11 points and Sam McRae added six points.

Kendall Lodman scored eight points, to top coach Patrick Clark’s Bearcats scoring chart.

Bainbridge Middle School’s Lady Cats and Bearcats return to action today when they travel to Whigham to take on the Whigham Middle School Lady Indians and Indians. The girls game will get under way at 4 p.m.
