BHS’ Homecoming week under way

Bainbridge High School will celebrate their annual homecoming this week. The homecoming theme is, “A blast from the past, Bearcat spirits though the decades.”

The homecoming parade will be Thursday at 5 p.m. It will begin at Wheat Avenue and will proceed to Willis Park on the square. There will be a pep rally on the square following the parade.

The homecoming queen, who will be crowned at halftime of the Bearcats’ Friday night Region 1-AAAAA football game against the Lee County High School Trojans at Centennial Field, and the maid of honor will be chosen by a vote of the senior class from among four senior attendants.

Homecoming king Paul Randall Soden, the punter for the Bearcats football team and the son of Randy and Elisa Soden, was also chosen by a vote of the senior class.

Senior attendant Isis Crawford, the daughter of Michelle Green and Terry Green, plays on the Lady Cats soccer team and is a member of the student council and the travelers club. She will be escorted by her uncle, Richard Brown.

Senior attendant Claire Culverson, the daughter of Steve and Jan Culverson, is a member of the BHS Marching Band dance line, the Anchor club, the Interact club, the National Honor Society, Cats For Youth, Future Teachers of America and the Shock Wave Choir. Her escort will be her father.

Senior attendant Jada Lashae Smith, the daughter of Tywann and Daphene Elijah, is vice president of the senior class, captain of the basketball cheerleaders, an AP Bearcat Scholar, a Golden Guide, an apprentice student at Regional Therapy Services and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.

Senior attendant Ashley Waddell, the daughter of Greg and Dee Waddell, is a member of the Interact club and Cats For Youth. She is also the president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Bearcats Marching Band’s dance line and a member of the Bainbridge Church of Christ. She will be escorted by her father.

One junior attendant is Raven Denise Burney, the daughter of Diane McGriff and Tyrone Burney, and a member of the Lady Cats track and field team. Burney will be escorted by her brother, Torey McGriff. The other junior attendant is Laura Griner, the daughter of Robert and Christine Griner, a member of the Lady Cats softball team the Future Farmers of America and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She will be escorted by her father.

One sophomore attendant is Alexandria Carter, the daughter of Willie and Rosalina Carter, and a member of the Lady Cats basketball team and the mock trial team. She will be escorted by her father. The other sophomore attendant is Haley Ann Green, the daughter of Don and Carrie Green, who was also on homecoming courts in her sixth- through ninth-grade years. She enjoys going to church, reading her Bible, shopping and hanging out with friends. Her future plans are to become a doctor. Her escort will be her father.

One freshman attendant is Taylor Lane Bush, the daughter of Lane and Lee Bush, and a member of the Future Farmers of America, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the varsity competition cheerleaders and the Marching Bearcat Band. She will be escorted by her father. The other freshman attendant is Briana Crystal Hollis, the daughter of Cynthia Wright and James Hollis Jr., and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Hollis will be escorted by her godmother, Arlesa Anderson.
