Services for James Gerald “Jerry” Kines Sr., 71, of Cairo, Ga., are at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, in Cairo. Rev. Robert Crapps and Elder Jon Mizell will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Kines went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at his home in Cairo.

Active pallbearers will be the Marine Corps Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Kines, Josh Kines, Ryan Hawkins, Keith Phillips, Adam Kines, Clark Kines, Robert Lawrence, Danny Kines and Donnie Dyson.

Mr. Kines was born on Jan. 7, 1941, in Rome, Ga., to Rosa Lee Perkins Kines, who survives, and the late Carl T. Kines. He was a member of Capel Baptist Church, where he served on different committees and services when asked to do so. He loved to worship and sing praises to his Lord. He often said that he loved God first, his family second and then his country. The Secretary of the Navy gave him credit for 42 years, seven months and 15 days of active duty in the Marine Corps and with civil service at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Ga. He was a loving husband of almost 50 years, a wonderful father and grandfather. He will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl T. Kines; his brothers, Edward Wray Kines and Daniel Warren Kines.

Survivors include his wife, Nila June Kines, of Cairo; son, Jimmy Kines of Cairo; daughter, Vicky Lynn Kines of Bainbridge; granddaughter, Shelley Lyn Kines of Cairo; grandson, Braden James Kines of Cairo; Carrie Kines, mother of Shelley and Braden of Whigham; mother, Rosa Lee Perkins Kines of Cairo; sisters, Patricia Carleen Dyson, and husband, Donald of Whigham, Sara Elizabeth Dunnigan, and husband, Frank of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers, Thomas Franklin Kines of Cairo, Robert Parker Kines, and wife, Diane of Jacksonville, Fla., Richard Eugene Kines, and wife, Debbie of Cairo, Timothy Lamar Kines, and wife, Jessica of Whigham, Joseph Samuel Kines, and wife, Beth of Cairo; brothers-in-law, Mack Franks, and wife, Vicky of Trussville, Ala., Eddie Franks, and wife, Laurie of Odenville, Ala.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Capel Baptist Church Building Fund, 1041 Capel Road, Cairo, GA, 39827.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
