Bennett Enfinger and Amber Braswell, of coach Lisa Enfinger’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country teams, were the overall and female winners at Saturday’s third annual Epic 5K run.

The 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) event at Spring Hill Christmas Tree Farm, which features both individual and team competition, annually benefits the Dylan Reid Faircloth Memorial Cross Country Scholarship.

Local bag piper Tom Brown played prior to and during the run.

The Bainbridge “swag team” of Greg Waddell, Perry Waddell, Carson Inlow, Daniel Graham and Grason Graham were the team champions.

The scholarship is named in honor and memory of the son of June Faircloth and a former member of coach Mandi O’Mara’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats cross country team, who lost his life in an automobile accident and was an organ donor.

Stan Gann, former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets quarterback, Warner Robins and Northside-Warner Robins head football coach, who received the honoree’s heart, participated in the event and he and his wife Sissy congratulated the individual and team winners, along with Mrs. Faircloth.

The Ganns, who live in Kathleen, Ga., have attended all three Epic 5K’s.

“It is great to have coach Gann and his wife here again this year, and to know that Dylan’s heart and legacy live on in coach Gann,” June Faircloth said.

Complete Epic 5K times and finishes will be published in Saturday’s edition of The Post-Seaechlight.
