Freshman running back Jordan Martin ran for two touchdowns Thursday at Centennial Field, leading the Bainbridge High School junior-varsity Bearcats to a 12-6 victory over the Early County High School junior-varsity Bobcats.

Martin gave the Bearcats a 6-0 second-quarter lead when he ran 5 yards for a touchdown. Martin set up the score when he broke loose for a 40-yard gain, from the 45-yard-line to the 5-yard-line.

The Bearcats increased their lead to 12-0 when Martin ran 6 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. The Bobcats scored on a 5-yard run late in the third quarter.

The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 18, but was postponed due to rain.

Bearcats offensive coordinator Leonard Guyton, who coaches the junior varsity with Tom Wheeler and Larry Cosby, said he thought the team played well against the Bobcats, and had a good season overall.

“We finished the season 4-2 and the young men gave us a good effort every week,” Guyton said.
