Mrs. Mary Lucille (Lucy) Anchors passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at her home in Bainbridge.

The family will receive friends for a time of memorial and reflection, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

Mary Lucille Carter was born May 23, 1930, in Valdosta, Ga., to Dorsey Lee Carter and Evelyn Willis Carter. Lucy graduated from the Georgia Academy for the Blind. She was a past president of the Georgia Council for the Blind. Lucy married Alvah Wynne Anchors, who preceded her in death. She was retired from the Georgia Industries of the Blind and a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church.

Lucy Anchors is survived by her children, Verlyne Lucille Taylor of Bainbridge, Mary Garcia of Ashville, N.C., and Tuwana Crosby of Bainbridge; a brother, Albert Carter of Valdosta; grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Crosby, Tyler Sivan Chapman, Christion Lamar Smith, Justino Roberto Ordaz, and Anna Marie Ordaz; and four great-grandchildren.
