Lady Cougars split matches

Coach Erwin Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars volleyball team split two matches Thursday, Oct. 11, at Grace’s Perry Memorial Gymnasium.

In the opener, Grace, which is now 11-7 for the season, downed the Lafayette Christian School Lady Cougars from LaGrange, Ga., 2-0. In the nightcap, they lost 2-0 to the Sherwood Christian School Lady Eagles, from Albany, Ga.

Leading the way for Grace against Layfatte, who they downed 25-15 in the first set and 25-22 in the second set, were Melissa Mills, who had 12 kills, Kendi Castoro, who had 11 digs, and Meriranna Parker, who had 23 assists.

Also turning in strong efforts were Kelsey Harrell, who had six kills and a 100-percent serve percentage, and Emilee Murr, who had five kills.

The top performers for Grace against Sherwood were Mills with eight kills, Castoro with six digs and a 100-percent serve percentage and Harrell with a 100-percent serve percentage.
