Funeral services for Roger Whitaker, 61, of Bainbridge, will be Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at 4 p.m. at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, in Cairo, Ga., with the Rev. Rollin Rathel officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the funeral. Services will conclude at the chapel.

Pallbearers will be James Barefield, Gary Hurst, Charles Widner, Michael Merkison, Eugene Sanders and Jason Sizemore.

Mr. Whitaker was born on Dec. 3, 1950, in Colquitt, Ga., to the late James Whitaker and Decima Widner Whitaker. Mr. Whitaker passed away on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.

He was a maintenance worker with Walmart.  Roger loved working on his trucks and spending time with his family, going fishing and enjoying the outdoors.

Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his parents, James and Decima Whitaker.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sherry Whitaker of Bainbridge, Tina and Terry Knight of Bainbridge, Anthony and Robin Whitaker of Albany, Ga., Heather Whitaker of Climax, Jenny and Dustin Harrell of  Bainbridge; grandchildren, Annabelle Harrell of Bainbridge, Quienton Whitaker of Hampton, Va., Christopher Staples Jr., of Bainbridge, Selena Wells of Climax, James Polk of Bainbridge, Marselle Polk of Bainbridge, LaDon Wells of Climax, Elizabeth and Corey Kelley of Climax, Marie and John Gilbert of Bainbridge; brothers and sisters-in-law, Warrena and Wanda Whitaker of Colquitt, Jimmy and Evelyn Whitaker of Bainbridge; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Howard Rathel of Iron City, Ga., Shirley Lloyd of Forsyth, Ga., Betty Dean of Dublin, Ga., Margie Anglin of Columbia, Ala., and Pam and Gary Hurst of Bainbridge.
