A celebration of his life will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at the Shelton family river property off of Hoggard’s Mill Road in Baker County.

His innate talent for connecting with people led him to a career in sales with United Distributors, where he worked until his retirement in 2006. In 1981, Scott married Sylvia Sharon Wester, of Bainbridge. They had two children, Barry Hughes Shelton, born 1982, and Rosanna Grace Shelton, born 1986. The family lived in Hoggard Mill, Valdosta, Albany, and most recently in Marietta.

Scott held a lifelong passion for the Word, which led him to be both a writer and an actor, but more importantly, a story-teller. He was also deeply immersed in the natural history and archaeology of the lower Flint River basin.

He was preceded in death by his father Harry, his mother Hazel, and his brother Terry.

He is survived by his wife and children, and his sisters Rose-Marie Friedlander and Lougene Tidwell.

Directions and an online guest register will be available on the Ivey Funeral Home website, www.iveyfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Scott’s memory to the Flint Riverkeeper, P.O. Box 468, Albany, GA 31702.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
