The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team dropped a 3-2 Tuesday tie breaker decision to the visiting Cairo High School Syrupmaids.

With the game tied 2-2 following the regulation seven innings, each team was able to put a runner on second base at the beginning of the eighth inning tie breaker session.

The Syrupmaids got what proved to be the winning home on an error and a fielder’s choice in the top of the eighth.

The Lady Cats put right fielder Morgan Phillips on second in the bottom of the eighth. She moved to third on a wild pitch before being stranded.

The Syrupmaids grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first but the Lady Cats came right back with two in the bottom of the frame to pull even 2-2.

Bearcats shortstop Laura Griner was hit by a pitch with one out in the bottom of the first inning. She moved up to second when center fielder Anna Barber was safe on a fielder’s choice. Catcher Lindsey Griner got both runs home with a clutch two-out double.

Brooke Bates took the loss, despite allowing just two runs in eight innings.

The Lady Cats took a 7-6 record into Tuesday’s game against the Miller County High School Lady Pirates, in Colquitt, Ga.
