Bainbridge High School athletic director Stan Killough announced Monday that the school will host a 30th anniversary celebration for former Bainbridge High School Bearcats head football coach Ralph Jones and his 1982 State Class AAA championship team and coaching staff on Friday, October 19.

The celebraton will begin with a 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. reception across the street from Centennial Field at the Elcan-King Elementary School cafeteria.

Following the reception, the 1982 players and coaches will be recognized at the Bearcats Region 1AAAAA game against Columbus’s Hardaway High School’s Golden Hawks at Centennial Field.

The Bearcats nailed down the 1982 state championship with a 7-6 victory over the Gainesville High School Red Elephants in a rain storm at Gainesville’s City Park Stadium.

“We are looking forward to having our 1982 coaches band players back,” Killough said.

“They are all part of a great season and moment in Bainbridge High School football and sports memory. It should be an exciting night.”
