10U All-Stars advance to state

The Bainbridge Leisure Services Department’s Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) 10-and-under All-Star baseball team recently finished second in District 3 and earned a berth in the GRPA State Tournament, which begins Wednesday in Waycross.

They defeated the homestanding Colquitt County B All-Stars, 11-5, Tuesday, June 26, at the GRPA District 3 Tournament in Moultrie, Ga.

The win put Bainbridge into the championship round against Colquitt County A, who Bainbridge beat 12-10 to get to the championship game.

Colquitt County’s A All-Stars downed them 14-4 in the championship game.
Bainbridge will open state tournament play against Savannah on Wednesday, July 11, in Waycross.

Coach Richard Wilson expressed pleasure with his Bainbridge All-Stars’ performances in Moultrie.

“Coach Joey Lee and I are extremely proud of the boys,” he said. “They have worked hard this past month to prepare and have really come together as a team. We are proud to have this group represent Bainbridge at the state tournament.”
