Miss Oates to wed Capt. Dunstan in June

ENGAGED: Christy Oates and Sean Dunstan

Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Rentz of Bainbridge and Mr. Mike Oates of Sebring, Fla., would like to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Christy Oates to Capt. Sean Dunstan, U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
Christy is the granddaughter of Jean Sammons and the late Hardy Sammons of Vada, of Margaret Oates Miller and the late Howard Oates of Grady County.

Capt. Dunstan is the son of Dr. Patrick and Madeline Dunstan of Virginia Beach, Va. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Blume of Virginia Beach and the late Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dunstan of Norfolk, Va.

Christy was an honor graduate of the 2001 class of Bainbridge High School. She graduated cum laude with a B.S. in chemistry from Georgia Southwestern State University, in Americus, Ga., in 2006. She is currently working toward a master’s degree in chemistry from Columbus State University, where she received secondary certification in 2011. Christy completed the 2011-2012 school year teaching math at Chattahoochee High School, in Cusseta, Ga.

Capt. Dunstan graduated magna cum laude in counseling and psychology in 2005 from Old Dominion University, in Norfolk, Va. He attended officer candidate school at Fort Benning and received his commission in 2006. He has served two tours of duty to Iraq, and currently serves as FSC Commander for 2-69 AR.

Sean and Christy will make their home in Seoul, South Korea, for one year, as Capt. Dunstan was selected as an aide-de-camp to begin assignment in July.

The wedding will be solemnized June 30 at the Garrett Bullock House, in Columbus, Ga.
