Rex V. Wade, 70, of Attapulgus, GA, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Attapulgus Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Elixson, Rev. Jerry Bishop, and Mr. Johnny Medley officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the Mayor, Councilmen, and Employees of the City of Attapulgus.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 10, Attapulgus, GA 39815.

Mr. Wade was born December 25, 1941 in Warren, OH, the son of Arthur Blaine Wade and Pearl Ellen Sweaney Wade. He was a graduate of Toronto High School in Ohio and was a machinist and a Caterpillar heavy equipment mechanic for most of his life. Mr. Wade was a member of Attapulgus Baptist Church and was on the Attapulgus City Council for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Peggy Finuff Wade of Attapulgus, GA; his children, Sue Wade Gillespie of Crestview, FL, Rex Wade, Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Bainbridge, GA, Cindy Markham and her husband, Ken, of Bainbridge, GA, Deana Ramer and her husband, Robin, of Climax, GA, Arthur Wade and his wife, Lisa, of Bainbridge, GA, Daniel Wade of Augusta, GA, Timothy Wade of Attapulgus, GA, Ted Wade of Attapulgus, GA, and Jeff Wade and his wife, Misty, of Savannah, GA; his sisters, Lee Etta Bray of Sarasota, FL and Verna Bloomer of Cadiz, OH; his 18 grandchildren, and his 8 great-grandchildren. Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Wade.
