Funeral services for George Thomas Skinner, 72, of Ray City, Ga., will be held Sunday March 18, 2012, at 3 p.m. in the Ray City First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robbie Peay officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaver Dam Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville, Ga.

Flowers will be accepted or make memorials to the Ray City First Baptist Church Building Fund.

He was born March 23, 1939, in Berrien County, Ga., to the late David Jackson Skinner and the late Nettie Akridge. He died Thursday, March 15, 2012. Mr. Skinner was retired President/CEO of Federal Farm Credit of Southwest Georgia. He was a member of the Ray City First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

He was the cemetery sexton for Beaver Dam and New Ramah Cemeteries, a former Berrien County Commissioner, and a charter member of the Nashville-Berrien Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ansley Elizabeth Skinner; and two brothers, William Skinner and Jack Skinner.

He is survived by his wife: Sarah Elizabeth Garner Skinner of Ray City; daughter: Sarah Virginia “Ginger” (Bo) Jones of Bainbridge; son: George Alan (Deanna) Skinner of Dothan, Ala.; five grandchildren: William Skinner, Catherine Skinner, Ty Jones, Carah Jones and Luke Jones; two brothers: Albert Skinner of Aiken, S.C. and Charlie Skinner of Cairo, Ga.; two sisters, Kathleen Hendley of Nashville and Elouise Nash of Lilburn, Ga.; and a sister-in-law, Louise Skinner of Atlanta, Ga.

Lovein Funeral Home of  Nashville is in charge of the arrangements.
