The funeral service for Russell D. Day, 83, of Brinson will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at Calvary Assembly of God with Rev. Shelvie Summerlin and Rev. James Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Assembly of God Cemetery with Bobby Thursby, Carey Alday, Chris Barber, Mark Mitchell, Tarrel Bennett, and Bo Jones serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Flint River Hospice, 402 North West Street, Bainbridge, GA 39817.

Mr. Day was born June 15, 1928 in Bainbridge, the son of William Daniel Day and Emma Lee Scarborough Day. He died Wednesday, Feb. 8 at his residence.

He was a life long farmer and he and his wife Ruth A. Day were named Ag Man and Ag Woman of the Year 2010. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God.

Mr. Day was preceded in death by his brothers, Durwood Day, Jeff Day, and Eldon Day; and his sisters, Mary Lee Day, and Fannie Mae Godwin.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth A. Day of Brinson; his sons, Howard D. Day and Roger Day, both of Brinson; his daughter, Ruby Loyd and her husband, Ronnie, of Bainbridge; his sisters, Myrtice Simmons of Donalsonville, and Dorothy Day of Warner Robins, Ga.; his grandchildren, Rusty Smith, Casey Day Love, Whitney Day, Drew Day, and Ben Day; and his great-grandchildren, Sydney Claire Smith, Jackson Smith, and Haile B. Love.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
