Rachel Harrell scores 1000th point

Rachel Harrell, of the Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars basketball team, scored her 1,000th point in the team’s 51-31 Thursday, Jan. 12, victory over the Ashford Christian Academy Lady Falcons at Perry Memorial Gymnsium.

The daughter of Leslie Harrell and Grace girls basketball coach Mike Harrell, she finished with 14 points on six field goals and two free throws. Emma Heard also scored 14 for the Lady Cougars.

On Friday, Jan. 13, the Lady Cougars defeated the Abbeville Christian Academy Lady Generals 41-17 in Abbeville, Ala. Rachel Harrell again led the way with 10 points on four field goals and two free throws. Perra Harrell scored eight points, on three field goals and two free throws.

The two victories improved the Lady Cougars’ season record to 15-4. They returned to action Tuesday when they traveled to Dothan, Ala., for a game with the Emmanuel Christian School Lady Warriors.

On Friday, they will host the Southwest Georgia Academy Lady Warriors of Damascus, Ga., at 6 p.m. at Perry Memorial Gymnasium.
