Seaborn wins Booster Club Tournament

Seaborn Printing Company’s four-person team of Bill Allen, Sherry Allen, Jamie Allen and Carter Whiddon won the Bainbridge High School Bearcats Football Booster Club’s Golf Tournament on Saturday.

Seaborn’s team shot a 20-under-par round of 52 Saturday at Bainbridge Country Club to win the tournament, which was played in the four man scramble format.

Seaborn’s Sherry Allen also won the prize for the longest drive.

The Southwest Georgia Oil Company team of Steve Bench, Tom Wheeler, Mike Jones and Ell Willis finished in second place, just a stroke behind the leaders with a 19-under-par round of 53.

In third place with an 18-under-par round of 54 was the First Port City Bank team of Charlie Bowles, Jim Higdon, Warren O’Quinn and Tommy Nix.

Individual awards went to Mike Jones for closest to the pin on hole number 3, Darryl Carpenter for closest to the pin on hole number 7, Josh Clemmons for closest to the pin on hole number 11 and Tre Byrd for closest to the pin on 13.

During the awards ceremony, BHS head football coach Ed Pilcher and Bearcats Football Booster Club President Wendell Nix expressed their appreciation to the golfers.

“They pointed out that among the things the money raised at the tournament will help the players do is go to camps, have meals,” Nix said.
